Peasants
The farmers and laborers in Ancient Egypt were classified as peasants. These peasants were obligated to stay on the land they lived on from when they were born until they died. Even if the land switched owners, the peasants could not leave to go work elsewhere.
The peasants (farmers) used irrigation to ensure that their crops would grow and prosper. They were responsible to hoe and plow the land, plant seeds, and take care of the crops.
Furthermore, if there were animals on the farm, such as cattle or pigs, the peasants were responsible for tending to them.
We have little information about peasants because they were illiterate and did not record the stories of their lives. The information that tells us about the lives of peasants is shown in the drawings and paintings on tomb walls.
